It’s fairly common to hear the bizarre fact “If you put a Goldfish in a larger tank, it’ll grow bigger!” and even though that fact is super cool, let’s hear another interesting fact about this fish that start with the letter G.
Sometimes when we think of the species fish, we lean towards an animal that doesn’t have the greatest memory. Perhaps Goldfish don’t have the memory of the mighty Elephant, but they have more than we may give them credit for! For these cuties can actually recognize the faces of people (That’s correct, your Goldfish you won at the fair can tell when it’s you feeding it those delicious fishy flakes!) and it has a memory span of around 3 months. The gigantic spider you see above got its name for a reason, it is the legendary and freaky Goliath Birdeater spider. Although these critters actually don’t eat birds very often, if one scientist witnessed a huge spider eat a bird we suppose we’d name it a birdeater too! They are however the heaviest species of spiders, and they are covered in hairs that can actually be “thrown” at a predator if the spider feels threatened and give off a stinging and incredibly irritating effect.
